AICTE approves eight technical institutions to offer evening Engineering courses

 The All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has approved eight technical institutions to offer evening Engineering courses with 570 seats for working professionals in Karnataka. After a demand from working professionals from four years, the AICTE has approved 137 technical institutions to offer evening courses in the country. Among the eight approved in the State, all institutions are private engineering colleges with 30 seating capacity in each stream, and the AICTE has ordered to complete the admissions by October 30. Earlier, there were 12 evening engineering colleges in the State. However, the AICTE withdrew the courses in 2019–20. After the demand from working professionals, the AICTE has decided to re-introduce the evening Engineering courses from this academic year and the State government has also given its nod. Ghaziabad: Two faculty members of the ABES engineering college have been suspended after a controversy erupted when they asked a student to leave the stage as he chanted ‘Jai Shri Ram’ during an induction ceremony on the campus. The decision to suspend the faculty members was taken on the recommendation of the high-level committee constituted by the college authority. Addressing the matter, ABES Director Professor Sanjay Kumar said, “…a high-level inquiry committee was constituted and asked to give its recommendation within 24 hours on the entire matter… its recommendations have come and on the basis of that we are suspending the two faculty members for their inappropriate behaviour.” The two faculty members who have been suspended are Mamata Gautam and Dr Shweta Sharma. NEET UG Counselling 2023: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced that the undergraduate students admitted to medical colleges after September 30 will be deemed invalid and will be discharged. An NMC statement dated October 19 said: “Stakeholders, including central authorities, state authorities and medical colleges are directed to strictly adhere to the counselling schedule set by the National Medical Commission for the academic session 2023–24 for UG MBBS courses.” “Any counselling carried out by the mentioned authorities beyond the prescribed schedule will be deemed invalid.
