 Iran had sent a ‘reasonable’ response to the EU’s proposal to restore the nuclear deal last week, as negotiations continue. Iran is studying the United States’ response to a European Union-drafted agreement that would restore the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and Western powers, Iran’s foreign ministry has said. Iran had already given its own response to the EU proposal last week, which was described as “reasonable” by the EU’s foreign policy chief, Josef Borrell. “This evening Iran received the US response through the European Union. The careful review of the response has started in Tehran,” Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said on Wednesday. “Iran will share its view with the EU, as the coordinator of the nuclear talks, upon completion of Tehran’s review.” The foreign ministry did not give any further details on how close the sides are to finalising a deal. Qatar has welcomed a truce for Gaza after three days of Israeli bombing, saying it was the result of “active diplomacy”. The Egypt-brokered truce, supported by Qatar and the UN, has ended a horrific air campaign by Israel that resulted in at least 43 Palestinians being killed, including 15 children. It is hoped by those involved in the truce that it will end Israeli violence in the besieged Palestinian enclave. “This agreement should not be broken in any way to ensure an appropriate amount of time where parties can work at the diplomatic level to avoid an escalation,” Majed al-Ansari, spokesman of the Qatari foreign ministry, told The New Arab. “I believe that what we are see[ing] now … is the result of active diplomacy — not just on the part of Qatar, but at the regional and international level — aimed at stopping this aggression as soon as possible.” Read More : https://english.alaraby.co.uk/news/qatar-welcomes-gaza-truce-after-waste-blood

 A ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian militants held overnight, following three days of violence. Isolated weapons fire from both sides in the minutes before and just after the Sunday night deadline failed to derail the Egypt-brokered truce. At least 44 people have died in the most serious flare-up since an 11-day conflict in May 2021. US and United Nations leaders urged both sides to continue to observe the ceasefire. In a statement, US President Joe Biden praised the truce and called on all parties “to fully implement [it] and to ensure fuel and humanitarian supplies are flowing into Gaza”.
